As reporter Millie Morris, 29, holds two cantaloupes to her chest in place of her God-given grapes, she makes eye contact with a gorgeous guy in the produce section of the local grocer. The magic dies when Millie ducks behind the kiwi to avoid contact with her ex in the vegetable section.
Things don’t improve the next day when Millie rides smack into a tree during a bike race. At least a knight in shining Armor All—a passing trucker—whisks her to the first-aid station. Life takes a positive turn when a bride places a huge cupcake order at Millie’s mom’s shop—The Secret Lives of Cupcakes—until the bride turns out to be fierce local lawyer, Laura Fracas, the woman who slept with Millie’s boyfriend and now wears his engagement ring.
Luckily, Millie’s buddies at the cupcake shop, and even that passing trucker, form the wrapper that holds Millie’s crumbling cupcake of a life together. Temperatures rise well above 350⁰ when Millie’s ex pesters her for advice and confides his doubts about marriage, but the icing on the cake comes when Millie must report on a headline-grabbing case in which Laura Fracas is the defense attorney.
Wending her way through this complicated recipe called life, Millie must make a choice continue in her half-baked state of existence or finally rise above it.

I thoroughly enjoyed Our Eyes Met Over Cantaloupe, it is one of the best chick-lit books I have read in a long time.The story is told by Millie Morris and is interesting and entertaining from the beginning. Millie is a smart, funny character who is totally believable and someone who I would like to know. There are a number of supporting characters, each with their own idiosyncrasies and their own imperfect lives to figure out. I love the cupcake shop and the sense of fun and community that it creates.
I also enjoyed Anne McAneny's, "Chunneling Through Forty".

This author leaves me giggling throughout her books. She has a snappy wit! This book moved quickly and was never dull. I can imagine her characters as friends of mine! Waiting for the sequel to this one!
Funny, good characters, very enjoyable read. Anne McAneny has a way with words that puts you right in the scene. Wish I had a friend like Millie Morris. Life would not be dull.
In a word, adorable! McAneny delivers a romantic comedy rivaling any on the big screen. Even more impressive, she manages to keep you guessing until the end how the heroine will fare, making this a real page-turner! Sit back, relax and laugh.
What a fun book! If you are looking for something funny, fast-moving and most importantly entertaining, then this is your book! I started this on a Friday afternoon and read straight through- I had to know what was going to happen. The characters are well developed and you really begin to care about them and what will happen to them next- especially the main character Millie. Everybody has a little bit of "Millie" in them, so it's easy to relate to her. You will love the ending!!!
It's just as I expected. I'm happy.
This might be my favorite of Anne McAneny's books so far. I loved Millie and her friends, loved the stories about the cupcake store -- although they made me hungry! -- and laughed out loud in many places. I have already recommended this book to my daughter and a couple of friends. I am now on my fourth of Ms. McAneny's books.
I read a few other books by her that I enjoyed and so picked up this one also. It was lighthearted and humorous. I enjoyed her style of writing which was like talking to a friend. She uses humor liberally and I found myself frequently chuckling. Don't read this if you look for serious plots, characters or for a book to have "meaning". Read this because you have an afternoon in the sun and want something light and enjoyable
